Wal-Mart is known for their affordable prices, but you could still pay between $50 and $100 for a new microwave. If shopping on a budget, you may not have this money to spend. In that case, I recommend buying used and a great place to buy used is on Craigslist.org.

How can you use Craigslist to find a cheap microwave?

To get started, visit Craigslist.org. From that page, you need to select your state and then nearest city. Over on the left-hand side, you will see a search box. This box is already set to search “for sale” items, so all you need to do is enter in your search phrase. For the largest selection just use “microwave” as your search phrase. If looking for a particular brand, search with that such as “Sharp microwave.”

After submitting your search, you will be brought to a new page. On this page, you will see a list of headlines. You can usually tell right away if the item in question is something you want to buy. The exact location of that item, the basics, and the price should be included. Automatically bypass anything too expensive. Click on any headline you want for more information.

Inside, you should see a picture and detailed information about the for sale microwave. Just like buying a microwave at an online retail store, you want the basics. This includes the size measurements, watts, and any extra features. If you like what you see, contact the seller by phone or email. However, when doing so you may also want to ask a few questions.
